Project Name: Strengthening the capacity of secondary school education through radio educational broadcasting in Zanzibar.

Location: Zanzibar

Contract Status: Part-time

Contract Length: 3 Months with possibilities of extension

Background

Good Neighbors (GN) is an international NGO founded in Korea in 1991, working to promote and protect child rights and advocate for the rights of the most vulnerable. GNTZ has been a regional competence in Tanzania, collaborating with local communities, government entities, and stakeholders to enhance the quality of life and education.

Project Description

Good Neighbors Tanzania-Zanzibar Area Office, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT), is implementing a three-year (2021-2024) KOICA-funded project, “Strengthening the capacity of secondary school education through radio educational broadcasting” (SRE). The project aims to enhance the quality of secondary school education through radio broadcasts for secondary school students.

Purpose of the Position

GNTZ-ZAO, in collaboration with MoEVT, is seeking experienced, self-motivated individuals with exemplary ethical conduct to join the SRE project part-time. The role involves supporting project activities, especially in the production of radio content.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support operational activities for the SRE project, including radio content production and related support.
  • Assist with training and advertisement activities.
  • Facilitate communication between Good Neighbors and Kwarara Media Education Center (KMEC).
  • Prepare daily reports on project activities.
  • Attend project meetings as required.
  • Document project materials.
  • Perform other duties assigned by a supervisor.
  • Support equipment management and monitoring at Kwarara Media Education Center (KMEC).
  • Coordinate radio training workshops for secondary teachers.
  • Prepare for media committee meetings.
  • Achieve 90% of individual and department annual targets.
  • Attend at least 3 courses provided by GN Academy or other training institutions to enhance knowledge and capacity in the field.
  • Perform other operational tasks assigned by the office.

General:

  • Comply with Good Neighbors and MoEVT policies and practices, including the code of conduct, health, safety, and professionalism.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in Social Science, Project Planning and Management, Community Development, Media Production, Development Studies, or a relevant field.
  • 2 years or more of work experience.
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili (written and spoken).
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong report-writing skills.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Personal laptop required for work.

Promotion:

After three months, selected individuals will have the opportunity for promotion based on an internal evaluation.

Advertisement for Part-timers:

Please note that this is a part-time role dependent on the demand of the SRE implementation plan provided by GNTZ-ZAO. The selected individuals will receive a monthly allowance of 250,000/=.
