Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) stands as Tanzania’s foremost gold producer, operating exclusively in the Geita Region. Situated merely 85 km from Mwanza City and 20 km Southeast of Lake Victoria's nearest point, GGML's mine operates within a strategic location. The company's headquarters are in Geita, a mere 5 km west of the burgeoning town of Geita, complemented by a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. Reporting to: Supervisor – Mechanical Milling Section

Number of Positions: One (1)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The primary objective of this role is to operate the gold room circuit according to GGM safe operating procedures, aiming to achieve company targets set by the senior supervisor. The operator is tasked with conducting inspections on tool and equipment usage, reporting hazards and unsafe conditions to the Senior Supervisor. Additionally, the operator is responsible for assisting in the cleaning and calcination of Cathodes, as well as participating in smelting, boxing, and bullion shipment processes, all while maintaining a high standard of housekeeping to minimize risks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum certificate of Secondary School Education (CSEE)
• Possession of a Certificate or Diploma in Minerals Processing will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE:

• At least 1 year of experience in a mineral processing plant, preferably in gold production.
• Previous gold processing plant operational experience (crushing, milling, CIL, and Elution) will be an added advantage.
• Exposure to the gold mining industry.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Act in a manner that enhances the safety culture and performance of GGM.
• Identify and address potential safety hazards.
• Attend compulsory safety courses and meetings, adhering to safety standards.
• Ensure accuracy in equipment operation, including electro-winning cells, filters, smelting furnace, and calcine ovens.
• Participate in crucible/smelting pot inspection and change out.
• Charge wet concentrate into and remove dry concentrate from calcine ovens.
• Contribute to efficient bullion boxing and gold shipment processes.
• Ensure calibration of weighing balances and services as per schedule.
• Arrange and store gold room reagents and consumables properly.
• Prepare fluxes as instructed by the gold room supervisor.
• Assist in developing competencies of other employees when directed.
• Immediately report equipment faults to prevent further deterioration.
• Safely isolate processing equipment for planned or unplanned shutdowns.
• Participate in the gold shipment process as required.

• Clean criminal record or any other security incidents.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of gold room information.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
• Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to complete repetitive tasks at a consistently high standard.
