The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education (DBE), is set to unveil its Matric Results service, running from December 14, 2023, to February 28, 2024. On Thursday, January 18, 2024, Ms. Angie Motshekga, the Minister of the Department of Basic Education, will announce the Senior Certificate results.

The SABC Education Matric Results service will distribute results to students in all provinces who have registered via SMS, USSD, and the MatricsMate App on the midnight of the release day.

To enhance accessibility, SABC Education urges learners to pre-register for the Matric Results service. By registering on SABC platforms, participants have the opportunity to win instant airtime prizes.

Registration is open through SMS or USSD, offering a chance to win a share of R10,000 in airtime. Alternatively, students can download the MatricsMate App from Google Play and Apple App Stores to receive their National Senior Certificate Examination results.

Learners should register using their examination number on their chosen platform to access the results.

For registration via mobile services, follow these steps:

SMS:

Send your exam number to 45856. Ensure the exam number is accurate, and a charge of R1.50 per SMS applies.

USSD:

Dial *120*45856#, enter the exam number to register. Charges are R1.50 per minute.

MatricsMate App:

Download for free from Google Play and Apple App Stores.

Embargo on the publication of results:

The 2023 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination results will be released at different schools at 06:00 on Friday, January 19, 2024. Media houses and service providers will receive the results on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 07:00. An embargo on the publication of results will be in effect until 06:00 on Friday, January 19, 2024, for all PEDs results, except for the Western Cape. Western Cape data will be released to media houses and service providers on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 12:00, with an embargo until 16:00 on the same day.

Maintaining the integrity and credibility of the examinations is crucial, and any breach of the specified conditions may lead to legal action against the data recipient, resulting in restricted access to future examination results/data.
