Join the team at the College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT) within the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Dar es Salaam. The CSE department has a rich history of providing technical support in the computing field to both public and private sectors. Our focus extends to designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating electronic-based information systems and software applications.


The University of Dar es Salaam DHIS2 lab, operating under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has been instrumental in the adoption and implementation of digital health solutions in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar for over 20 years. Collaborating with various entities, including government ministries, NGOs, private healthcare providers, universities, and development partners, the lab is at the forefront of designing, developing, training, and supporting various health and non-health digital systems and technologies.


As part of this initiative, we are looking for skilled and motivated individuals to fill the position of ICT Officer (Software Developer). In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting digital health information systems and related applications, including mobile apps.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Participating in software architecture design and code reviews
  • Developing high-quality and reliable software systems
  • Creating prototypes to demonstrate fundamental design concepts
  • Writing unit and integration tests to ensure software quality
  • Collaborating with team members to plan and organize software development activities
  • Reviewing and writing design documents


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Health Informatics, Software Engineering, or related fields
  • Strong software development skills and experience
  • Familiarity with various programming languages, frameworks, and methodologies
  • Proficiency in software version control techniques and tools
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing needs
  • Excellent analytical, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills


Additional Considerations:

  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
  • Immediate availability to start work from December 1, 2023
  • Familiarity with DHIS2 software and other digital health systems

Remuneration:


  • Competitive salary and benefits based on qualifications and experience
  • One-year contract with the possibility of extension based on performance
