The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is a non-profit international agricultural research center headquartered in Taiwan with regional offices globally. Dedicated to promoting healthier lives and resilient livelihoods through enhanced food diversity, WorldVeg conducts research and development programs on vegetables. The organization holds the world's largest public vegetable germplasm collection and collaborates with public and private sectors on breeding programs, contributing to improved cultivars and sustainable agriculture.

**Center Manager and Liaison Officer**

**Responsibilities:**


**1. Human Resources:**

   - Manage fair recruitment processes and staff performance evaluations.

   - Ensure optimal working conditions and a safe, trusted working environment.

   - Review and update HR policies, including adherence to labor and employment laws.


**2. Finance and Administration:**

   - Lead annual planning and budgeting for the Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) region.

   - Coordinate ESA finance and administration teams.

   - Supervise administration for the Arusha Center and other project offices in the region.


**3. Resource Mobilization, Communications, Relationship, and Capacity Building:**

   - Participate in resource mobilization for WorldVeg's work in Tanzania.

   - Coordinate communications products, outreach activities, and strengthen relationships with Tanzania and WorldVeg partners.

   - Organize workshops, training, and events to promote WorldVeg as an 'Open Science Center.'

   - Manage risk, business continuity activities, and prepare annual reports for submission.


**4. Qualifications and Experience:**

   - Tanzanian national with fluency in English and Kiswahili.

   - Minimum ten years of experience in a similar role.

   - MA or MSc degree in Business Administration, Finance Management, Agriculture, or related field.

   - Knowledge of agriculture, food systems, climate change, and/or nutrition.

   - Strong affinity with WorldVeg's mission and research for development.

   - Excellent communication skills in English.

   - Strong network in the agriculture sector.

   - Solid experience in human resource management, finance, procurement, and project operations.

   - Computer skills are essential.


**Desired Experience:**

   - Management experience in an international non-profit organization, research, or university setting.

   - Public speaking and presentation skills.

   - Resource mobilization experience.


**The Reward:**

The initial appointment is for one year, extendable based on requirements, funding availability, and performance. A competitive compensation package will be offered to the successful candidate.
